Today, effective and efficient service concept has come to the forefront in meeting the health needs of the society. Effective and efficient service is possible by providing all health workers with scientific developmnets in the same direction and standard. The role of he nurse in providing effective health care services is undoubtedly of great importance. The International Council of Nurses (ICN)  defines the nurse as:nurse contributes to the developments and implementation of the therapeutic and educational plans of the healthcare team that help to protect and improve the health of the individual, family and community and participate in rehabilitation in case of illness. In recent years, there have been profound developments in nursing education and practice in the world and in our country. In terms of our country, the Nursing Law in 2007 and the Nursing Regulation published in 2011 make important contributions to the professional developments.

As Metin Sabancı Baltalimanı Bone Diseases Hospital’s High Nursery, in line with all these developments and social needes, we always act by aiming for better patient care. While we are touching the lives of our patients as nurses who have adopted professionalism to reach our goal, we do not forget that we offer services to people.

EDUCATION NURSING

Continuing education has a very important role in the provision of qualified services for nursing services. In this context, in-service trainings in our hospital are prepared by the training coordinator by taking the opinion of all nurses with the Training Request Form at the end of the training year every year. Training plansa re made according to demans. Prepared training plansa re shared with clinics.

Service trainings are evaluated.And assessments are recorded.Post-graduation training reports are prepared on which each nurse receives training,and nurses are included in the in-service trainings.Observations are given on the field of clinical education.Feedback is applied.

Clinical Nursing

CLINICAL NURSE Determines the needs related to the health of the individual during the pre-op post-op and discharge periods and determines the nursing care in accordance with the quality standards in line with the needs determined within the scope of nursing diagnosis process with the modern nursing services. In our hospital,interventional procedures of nursing in clinical practice are documented in manuel and digital environment.

There is a Nurse Call System which is is connected to the central computer system. In the system that enables the patient to reach the nurse,we have a center-lit and audible warning system that shows the call in the nurse desk. With the nurse call system,our patients can reach their nurses from the bed heads in the bathroom and washbasin.

Accompanied by the physical location of our hospital,except for special cases,we don’t allow the relatives of the patients to take place at the hospital.For this purpose,we have trained staff who serve 24 hours in each ward.

Infection Nursing

Hospital infections are an important health problem in our country as well as in the world.In addition to morbidity and mortality,the duration of hospitalization and treatment cost increase.For this reason,hospital infections have always been up to date in the field of medicine and nursing.Another concept that develops in parallel to the importance of  hospital infections is infection control nursing.The Infection Control Nurse is the key to the control of hospital infections.Since hospital infections are a major problem of contemporary societies , the qualtifications of the nurse,who has a key role in resolving the problem,are extremely important.

The duties of the Infection Control Nurse:

  1. To carry out hospital infections surveillance,
  2. To Keep camputer records of collected surveillance data
  3. To determine the increase in the rate of clinical infection or the increase in infections caused by certain microorganisms and to inform the infection control physician,
  4. When there is a suspicion of a hospital outbreak,participate in studies to find the source of it and solve the problem,
  5. To Meet the infection control physcian at least once a week to evaluate the studies,
  6. To communicate the problems related to the departments together with the infection control physician,to ensure the participation of these departments in the creation,implementation and evaluation of the control measures,
  7. To Take part in the development and implementation of infection control programs,
  8. To monitör infection control practices throughout the inpatient treatment process
  9. To Provide training hospital treatment and hospital staff on the hospital infection and control.

The fields of activity of the infection control committee are

  1. Surveillance and registration,
  2. Control of antibiotic use,
  3. Disinfection,antisepsis,sterilization,
  4. Occupational infections of health workers,
  5. Hospital care,laundry,kitchen,waste management support services such as the control of hospital infections.

INFECTİON CONTROL COMMINITTEE WORKS IN OUR HOSPITAL

An active,prospective,patient and laboratory-based Hospital Infections Surveillance Program is conducted in our hospital.Service Infections and Procedure specific Surgical Field Infections are monitored. Procedure In the scope of Specific Surgery Field Infections,hip prosthesis,knee prosthesis,open fixation of fractures,laminectomy and spinal fusion surgery groups are followed up and their data are are entered.UHESA (National Hospital Infections surveillance network) developed by the Refik SAYDAM transparent sanitation center is used to keep records of surveillance data.The Hospital Infection Surveillance data prepared by our Infection Control Team in 3 month periods is presented to the Chief Physician and Clinical Chiefs and shared with the members of the commission. In addition, Surveillance Results of Hospital Infections are published in graphics on the website of our hospital in 3-month periods and shared with bulletin boards.

In- service trainings and orientation trainings are conducted in order to prevent hospital infections and take necessary measures and a Training Program in planned for all hospital employess.

EMERGENCY NURSİNG

The Emergency nurse applies the necessary nursing care according to the ethical rules to ensure the acceptance of any patient / injured individuals of all ages who have an orthopedic problem,anda re not diagnosed and who need urgent intervention.

Our nurses working in the Emergency Department of our hospital are trained personnel who practice and work in a serial and have the ability to intervene immediately in all kinds of emergency cases,equipped with emergency care nurse certificate, receive emergency education programs,and can perfom all kinds of medical interventions and follow technological developments.

The emergency nurse makes fast physical evaluation of the patients,evaluates the date and records the results. She/he sets priorities among the cases in the emergency unit at the same time. And Transfer patients admitted to admission and surgery according to internal transfer procedure.

Intensive Care Nursing

The intensive care nurse is equipped with the knowledge and skills to use all kinds of devices and Technologies used in the intensive care unit,including the activities to support the patient’s disrupted functions until the main cause is eliminated and to ensure the survival of the patient in this process

In our intensive care unit,nurses who are aware of the sudden changes in vital signs and take the necessary precautions in time,use modern life support units and fallow the vital signs are carrying out this task.

Operating Room Nursing

Operating room nursing is the name of a process that has developed and evolvd from the beginnig of surgery. Operating room nursing is a way of life. It is a concept fed by personal abilities, growing with emotions and developing through education.

Operating room nurses are composed of people who absorb the philosophy and concepts of contemporary nursing. They have teamwork and team spirit. They use critical thinking skills and continuously improve themselves and their colleagues.

Opreting room nursing is carried out as a wake-up unit, circulated and scrup nursing services in accordance with the standards and principles determined in accordance with the technological developments.
