The Era of Fully Endoscopic (Minimally Invasive) Spine Surgery Begins at Baltalimanı Bone Diseases Hospital

M.S. Baltalimanı Bone Diseases Training and Research Hospital has taken an important step in line with its goal of providing modern and minimally invasive approaches in spine surgery. Fully endoscopic (minimally invasive) spine surgery procedures have been successfully initiated at our hospital.

M.S. Baltalimanı Bone Diseases Training and Research Hospital also hosted a significant scientific event in the field of endoscopic spine surgery. On Saturday, December 27, the “Maximum Visualization in a Narrow Canal: Endoscopic Spine Surgery” Live Surgery and Theoretical Training Meeting, organized in collaboration with the Endoscopic Spine Surgery Association, was held as a nationally attended event with the participation of numerous academicians and clinicians from different regions of Türkiye. The meeting comprehensively addressed the scientific, technical, and clinical aspects of endoscopic spine surgery.

Scientific Infrastructure and Clinical Practice Together at Baltalimanı

Within the scope of the scientific meeting held at our hospital, the theoretical foundations of endoscopic spine surgery, patient selection, surgical techniques, and complication management were discussed by expert academicians in the field. One of the most prominent components of the meeting was the live surgery sessions, during which biportal and uniportal endoscopic techniques were broadcast live from the operating room. Participants had the opportunity to observe the procedures step by step and engage directly by asking questions.

This organization served as both a scientific and clinical demonstration that endoscopic spine surgery has been actively implemented at Baltalimanı Bone Diseases Training and Research Hospital.

What Is Endoscopic Spine Surgery?

Endoscopic (fully minimally invasive) spine surgery is a modern surgical technique that enables the treatment of spinal disorders through very small skin incisions using specialized cameras and surgical instruments. This approach minimizes damage to surrounding tissues while providing the surgeon with a high-resolution and wide field of view.

Endoscopic techniques are effectively used in the treatment of degenerative spinal conditions such as lumbar and cervical spinal stenosis, lumbar disc herniation, and similar disorders, offering significant advantages that enhance patient comfort and accelerate recovery.

Advantages for Patients

Endoscopic spine surgery provides several important benefits, including:

  • Smaller incisions and minimal tissue damage

  • Reduced postoperative pain

  • Shorter hospital stay

  • Faster return to daily activities

  • Lower risk of infection

Future Vision

As M.S. Baltalimanı Bone Diseases Training and Research Hospital, our goal is to become a reference center that closely follows scientific advancements and delivers modern surgical techniques to patients in a safe and effective manner while integrating education with clinical practice.Through our endoscopic (fully minimally invasive) spine surgery applications, we aim to provide our patients with a more comfortable, safer, and faster recovery process, and we will continue to pursue our scientific and clinical efforts in this field with determination.
